Colin Fitzgibbons, Hunt Realty President, Dies At 46
Hunt Realty Investments President Colin Fitzgibbons, a prominent developer behind Goldman Sachs' Downtown Dallas tower and the Fields megaproject in Frisco, has died. A cause of death was not disclosed. He was 46 years old.
Fitzgibbons, a native of Dallas, graduated from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, in 2001 with aspirations to either work in journalism or real estate. According to The Dallas Morning News, he made his mark as a sports reporter for The Washington Post before switching to real estate.
He started his real estate career as an associate with The Staubach Co. in New York City before returning to Dallas-Fort Worth. He spent nearly a decade with KDC Real Estate Development and Investments, Fitzgibbons’ LinkedIn profile shows. In 2020, Fitzgibbons joined Hunt as the company’s president.
“Colin had a signature style of leadership that combined loyalty, intellect, strategic purpose … He led the Hunt Realty team to new heights and was seeing us through some very impactful ones,” Hunt Realty Investments CEO Chris Kleinert said in a statement to Bisnow.
Under Fitzgibbons’ watch, Hunt engaged in numerous development projects, including the Goldman Sachs Tower project at the North End off Field Street and a $5B investment in the city’s downtown redevelopment property near Reunion Tower.
In a 2022 profile published in D Magazine, Fitzgibbons reflected on his time with Hunt: “I think we have assembled a team and cobbled together a strategy to really take advantage of some great opportunities we see in the near term and in the future. That is a huge relief.”
Fitzgibbons served on the board for the Moorland Family Oak Cliff YMCA, The Real Estate Council PAC, Downtown Dallas Inc., NAIOP Commercial Real Estate Development Association and Southern Methodist University’s Folsom Institute.
“Colin spoke often and proudly about his family, and his love for them guided how he showed up for all of us,” Kleinert said.
Fitzgibbons is survived by his wife, Jessica, and three sons.
