Deep Ellum Developer Buys Near Love Field

The long-neglected areas around Love Field are seeing an increase in real estate activity, thanks in part to investor Scott Rohrman, who's on an acquiring spree.

Rohrman’s latest purchase is a bright orange-yellow office and retail building that’s been vacant for years. The three story-building at 2626 W Mockingbord Ln was built in 1962, and Rohrman told the Dallas Morning News he hopes to preserve it but is waiting to see if that's economically feasible.

Rohrman is in discussions with potential tenants to lease the building. Several car-rental businesses are interested in the building’s 1,000-space garage.

Rohrman says he's snapping up lots around the area with the attitude that,  “we buy things and figure it out later.”

Rohrman has bought nearly 40 properties in Deep Ellum. [DMN]
