Eight floors of the 42-floor Cityplace Tower in Dallas will soon be occupied by a 223-key room luxury hotel.

The property’s owner — Highland Capital Management affiliate NexPoint Advisors — announced it intends to move an InterContinental Hotels & Resorts branded property into the office tower.

Having a luxury hotel at the bottom of the building separates the iconic tower from competition Uptown and Downtown and creates another luxury hotel concept for the area.

NexPoint Advisors acquired the property last year and announced Wednesday it selected InterContinental Hotels Group as the hotel operator and inked a long-term agreement for IHG to manage a full-service, five-star hotel inside Cityplace Tower.

“We see Cityplace as an opportunity to contribute to the Uptown area,” Highland Capital Management co-founder and President James Dondero said in a statement. “Selecting the right hotel operator was a top priority, and we are excited to partner with IHG.”

The hotel, scheduled to open in early 2022, will include a restaurant, bar and lounge along with a fourth-floor terrace overlooking Uptown and Downtown Dallas.

NexPoint considers the hotel just the first phase of building renovations. The company also plans to improve shared spaces, renovate the lobby, introduce more retail offerings and build a new fitness center along with other tenant-focused amenities.

Avison Young serves as leasing agent for the building, while building manager NexBank Realty Advisors is overseeing renovations.

The tower is located at 2711 North Haskell Ave. in Dallas.
