WELL SHOOT, MA’AM
CBRE's Blake Shipley
We like it when our job lets us out of the office and down to the Dallas Gun Club. We donned our hearing protection and shot (with our camera!) CBRE associate Blake Shipley at the May 13 sporting clays tournament to benefit the Elizabeth Toon Charities. The event came on the heels of a Jack Ingram and Pat Green concert to benefit the same organization, founded in '07 by JLL?s Larry Toon  in honor of his daughter Elizabeth (killed by a hit-and-run driver in '06 at age 22). The charity has raised more than $1M to support children and their families. Executive director Jessica Gates says the shootout had 76 teams (almost double last year's 44), and the concert hosted more than 1,600 (over last year's almost 1,000). Jessica says the events raised $440k this year.
JLL's Stephen Holley and Forshey Hoobler
We caught a ride to the tournament with JLL?s Stephen Holley and Forshey Hoobler. Stephen says there are many CRE-related charity events each year, but this is unique because of their connection with Larry and the intimate concert setting. ?It's my favorite event of the year. JLL?s Rachel Brown is very involved, as well, and the entire committee works hard to make sure it's a success.? He says this year's event benefited from last year's success, doubling the beneficiaries from six to 12. We did take a break from basking in the sun and inhaling the aroma of gunpowder to prod Forshey into telling us he recently completed a 102k SF lease with Michael Haggar for Chick Packaging Group in Coppell.
