PAPER OR PLASTIC?

For some non-MOB news. The specialty grocery sector is going strong locally. UCR?s Jean Smith told the crowd at the Thursday CoreNet Southwest chapter luncheon that Aldi and Sprouts are going strong; Sprouts recently opened its 10th location in DFW (at Hulen and I-20 in Fort Worth). We snapped Jean (left) and fellow panelists Panera?s Terrance Maiden, Gensler?s Marsha Getto-Aikens, Chase Bank?s Terri Murray, and Kroger?s Larry Miller. Jean anticipates that Target will also continue with new store development in the four major metropolitan markets in Texas. Another notable trend is that numerous retailers have gone to a smaller urban format. Larry agreed and pointed to Kroger?s new Fresh Fare format, which opened at University and Berry near TCU in Fort Worth. Pardon us while we head out for smoked gouda and crackers.
