NO SWEAT
Billy Vahrenkamp and Daniel Rudd

On Monday, we asked for your suggestions to cool down and you responded. Colliers International SVP Billy Vahrenkamp shows off the view from EVP Daniel Rudd?s office in Park Seventeen at 1717 McKinney Ave. Daniel tells us the Gables lounge area and pool is a great feature for this mixed-use project. It's nice to have some pleasant scenery for a momentary diversion and it makes for a cool visual in the midst of a concrete jungle, he tells us. We're thinking it?d be perfect if you add in a drink with a little umbrella and get rid of the office part.

Comal River

G.L. Barron Co chief estimator Claude Holliman ducked out of camera shot but told us growing up in New Braunfels meant soaking every summer in the cool waters of the Comal River. With a constant water temp of 72, there's no sweating allowed. ?It will cool you off quick as the water comes from springs in the Landa Park area and dumps into the Guadalupe River on the south end of town,? he tells us. A word of caution: don't go on a holiday weekend—it's rush hour on the river.
