Great Lakes Cold Storage has broken ground on a 60K SF expansion of its HQ in Solon. The expansion will be in a number of phases that will ultimately allow the company to employ 68 more full-time employees; currently, it has about 130 employees at its Solon location.

The expansion will add to Great Lakes' 20-degree cold storage warehouse. The company offers about 8.6M cubic feet of storage for large food manufacturers at this facility and another one in Pennsylvania.

Earlier this year, the City of Solon approved a tax credit valued at about $101K to support the expansion. Later, the State of Ohio Tax Credit Authority approved a tax credit package for the expansion totaling about $115K.

The company also plans to make about $2M in improvements to its existing facilities. Arco Design/Build of Houston has been tasked to undertake the development.
