A locally based developer has acquired the 34-acre Paradise Gardens Resort, the Cincinnati area's only resort for nudists. The clothing-optional property first opened in 1970. Its current owners bought it in 1983, but have been trying to sell it for about 10 years because of declining membership, Cincinnati.com reports.

The property is on Blue Rock Road in rural Colerain Township. Ron Coleman, president of Paradise Resort Inc., the resort operator, said the developer will build five houses on the property. He declined to name the developer or how much it paid.

"Now, it's hard for families to schedule a time to utilize the place, which has limited new members," Coleman said. The resort had about 85 active memberships at the time of the sale.

Other ideas have been floated for the site in recent years, but none have come to fruition. In 2013, local residents nixed a proposed adventure park for the site, which would have featured zip lines and other such attractions.
