The shakeup of Wicker Park's retail market continues after police evicted longtime shoe store City Soles from its shop at 1514 N Milwaukee yesterday. That storefront is best known for serving as "Championship Vinyl," the record store owned by John Cusack's character in the film "High Fidelity."

City Soles, which has called Wicker Park home for over 20 years, just moved into the storefront 10 months ago. But owner Scott Starbuck announced last month the shop would close and said he filed paperwork to extend his stay until the end of February, according to DNAInfo. Property owner Newcastle Ltd filed an eviction request last October. Starbuck says he, City Soles employees and shoppers were all surprised when police arrived to enforce the eviction, and Starbuck says he hopes to get his inventory returned.

The future of another Wicker Park business, the iconic nightclub Double Door, is in doubt as building owner Brian Strauss agreed to sell the building to Speedwagon Properties. [DNA]
