Your Guide to Understanding Millennials

Chicago Other

Yesterday we attended a WorldChicago event featuring veteran pollster John Zogby and gleaned some interesting Millennial facts relevant to any commercial real estate company. First of all, there are 76 million of them, just two million short of the bulging Baby Boomer demographic, meaning they'll be 30% of the workforce over the next few years. They want meaningful work and they're less steeped in traditional hierarchies (and corner offices), which has huge implications for office space. Millennials solve problems via social networking and consensus building, so companies should offer collaborative space that fosters those connections. John attributes the cohort's value of teamwork to the copious amounts of trophies they received as children, but it has manifested across real estate in very real ways, like crowdfunding.
