Is McDonald's Mulling A Downtown Move?
For the second time in six months, the House That Ray Kroc Built is flirting with downtown. McDonald's is reportedly interviewing office tenant brokers to determine who will land the plum assignment of finding downtown office space for the Golden Arches, Crain's reports.
Reports surfaced last summer that McDonald's was close to signing a deal for 350k SF at Prudential Plaza, before McDonald's withdrew. While it's still early in the process, the rumors this time are centered on McDonald's landing at Willis Tower. (Can you imagine the supertall's iconic antennae being replaced with arch-shaped antennae?)
McDonald's CEO Steve Easterbrook told employees at a town hall meeting that costs for repairs and maintenance at the company's Oak Brook HQ are growing more expensive. Easterbrook said in a memo the company is exploring all options. [Crain's]
