After spending a good portion of 2015 buying up as much available riverfront land as possible, CMK Cos and Lendlease are ready to break ground on one of the most ambitious (and that's an understatement) multifamily projects to hit downtown in some time. The first phase of Riverline will begin construction next month.

Riverline, with a master plan designed by Perkins+Will, will eventually total 3,600 residences on 14 acres. The CMK/Lendlease JV bought 8.8 acres between River City and Roosevelt Road in March 2015, followed by another 7.3 acres between Harrison Street and River City three months later.

Riverline's first phase will consist of 60 townhomes, two towers and a 3.5-acre riverfront park, according to Curbed. CMK has other projects in the South Loop besides Riverline. The firm delivered a 16-story condo tower at 1345 South Wabash last year and has another multifamily project in the works on an adjacent site. [Curbed]
