Amazon Partner Inks 1M SF Warehouse Lease In Chicago Suburbs

Crane Worldwide Logistics signed a massive 992K SF lease in suburban McCook that it will operate in conjunction with Amazon to store the tech titan's data center equipment.

The Houston-based logistics company inked the lease at 9130 W. 55th St. in McCook and will operate in partnership with the e-commerce giant to store components for Amazon Web Services data centers in the region, sources told Crain's Chicago Business.

Amazon has a strong data center presence in the Midwest, announcing plans in November to build a $15B data center project in Indiana, following completion of a separate $11B data center development in the Hoosier State in 2025.

Bridge Industrial developed two buildings on the McCook site after buying it for about $91M in 2021: the 992K SF building that Crane leased and a smaller, roughly 190K SF building. The site is about 30 minutes from O'Hare International Airport and 20 minutes from the central business district.

"Over the past six months, tenant demand has picked up rapidly as large occupiers move forward to accommodate growth," a Bridge spokesperson told Crain's.

Leasing trends back up the perceived uptick in interest.

RJW Logistics Group completed a 788K SF lease at Plainfield Business Center earlier this year. That deal was one of at least four industrial transactions over 750K SF in the Chicago area so far in 2026, according to data from Avison Young. For comparison, the entirety of 2025 saw eight such leases, and 2024 saw five.

Last month, Matterhorn Venture Partners principal and co-founder Tina Ramos told Bisnow that the city and broader region's industrial assets are benefiting from strong demand and limited supply, drawing capital to the area.

"Chicago and just the bigger Midwest is just having a little bit of a moment right now," Ramos said.

JLL's Sam Durkin represented Crane in the deal, while Colliers' Matthew Stauber and David Bercu represented Bridge.
