Magellan Development hopes dedicated ridesharing will allow it to stand out in the competitive downtown rental market. The firm is partnering with General Motors to provide Magellan's tenants with access to short-term car rentals through GM's Maven brand.
Starting this summer, renters living at Aqua Tower, the Tides at Lakeshore East and other Magellan properties will have the option to reserve car rentals ranging from a few hours to four days, Crain's reports. GM will get a foothold into a market long dominated by Zipcar and Enterprise Car Share. Magellan hopes having Maven on board will entice new tenants.
