Crescent Heights began construction of One Grant Park in January, which largely consisted of laying down the foundation for the 76-story tower. Last week, the city approved another permit for One Grant Park, which allows the project to gradually reach for the sky.

The newest permit allows for Crescent Heights to build the first eight floors of the $64M apartment project. But just getting to this point in a short amount of time indicates that Crescent Heights and its team are making good progress.

One Grant Park, designed by Rafael Viñoly, will include a mix of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments designed by the Rockwell Group. Viñoly's design is a nod toward Willis Tower, with a step effect and rooftop terraces at varying heights, while offering unobstructed views of Grant Park, the lakefront and Museum Campus. It is part of a flurry of activity in the South Loop that includes Oxford Capital's 620-foot-tall Essex on the Park; 1000M, the luxury condo tower from JK Equities, Time Equities and Oak Capital at 1000 South Michigan designed by Helmut Jahn; and 1326 South Michigan, a 46-story project from Murphy Development Group and CIM Group.
