Children's Memorial Demolition Is Complete

McCaffrey Interests' redevelopment of the Children's Memorial Hospital site in Lincoln Park will move to Phase 2, now that demolition is complete. Site prep and grading are expected to launch next month, according to DNAinfo Chicago.

The final major building on the site, the Nellie Black Pavilion, was razed last month. That part of the site will become Belmont Village, a 120K SF senior living facility developed by Harrison Street.

McCaffrey and its partner in the project, Hines Interests, have big plans for Children's Memorial. Plans call for 540 luxury apartments, 60 condos and 160K SF of retail along Lincoln Avenue. The Children's Memorial site has been vacant since the hospital moved to Lurie Children's Hospital downtown three years ago. Demolition began last June and took nine months to complete.
