Marijuana Poll: Who Wants a Dispensary Near Superdawg?

Chicago

Last night, Ald. Anthony Napolitano (41st) announced plans to conduct a telephone poll to gauge support for a planned medical marijuana dispensary near the iconic Superdawg drive-in after residents strongly voiced disapproval at a community meeting. Union Group of Illinois wants to open the dispensary in a 21,500 SF space at 6428-30 N Milwaukee Ave. Co-founder John Davis pledged to donate 4% of the dispensary’s projected $1.6M in profits to local charities and civic groups, DNAInfo reports. Union Group plans to build a secure garage to receive marijuana deliveries, add 21 parking spaces, maintain strict business hours, install a state-of-the-art security system and have armed guards on the premises. Napolitano, who opposes the project, urged opponents to attend a zoning board meeting May 28. The alderman's staff will also go door-to-door to homes closest to the dispensary to gauge their support.
