Chicago Spire’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy case closed on a quiet note. The 2.2 acre site was supposed to be the spot for Irish developer Garrett Kelleher's vision, which would have been a 2,000-foot tower, but it’s just another spot in the ground. Related Midwest took on the project’s debt, and has yet to comment on what it will do with the site now that the bankruptcy filing has closed, reports the Chicago Tribune. Interestingly, the firm has developed high-rise towers and condo rentals in downtown Chicago, so perhaps more homes are in the works. [Tribune]
