Amazing Race, CRE-style

emby trophy

Traditional semi-annual meetings can include discussions on team building and working together, but why not put theory to practice and have a little fun? Last week, MB Real Estate hosted its first ever MB Real Estate Amazing Race. On a quest for the coveted "eMBy" award (above) and a year's worth of bragging rights, participants raced around the city, solving Joker-worthy riddles that led them to eight different MBRE-managed and leased buildings (221 N LaSalle, Michigan Plaza, Daley Center, etc). Teams solved SAT-caliber math problems, replicated Chicago landmarks with Legos, performed memory tasks, and led each other blindfolded.

The "Old Town Ogres"above (Jay Beadle, Elizabeth Loving, Robert Quetsch, Ed Carik, Jason Kleiman, Jennette Stratton, Danny Nikitas, Sara Spicklemire, Angie Kral, and Doug Noble) made it back to Millennium Park in record time and were crowned winners. Post-race activity included presentations by MBRE CEO Peter Ricker and Dr. Steven Julius, former Chicago Bulls psychologist. Steven related the highs and lows on court to the everyday CRE experience. Phil Jackson might call it Zen and the art of deal closing. (When you meet Buddha at the negotiating table, feed him the paperwork.)
