Charlotte No. 4 Tech Market For Jobs, Rent Growth Nationwide

Tech job growth and office rent growth in Charlotte, taken together, ranks the market as No. 4 in the country, according to CBRE’s 2016 Tech-Thirty Report. Charlotte's only topped by San Francisco, Phoenix and Austin. Tech space rents were up 14.8% from Q2 2014 to Q2 2016, the report says, while tech job growth in Charlotte was up a whopping 33.2% during the same period.

Other takeaways in the report about Charlotte's tech industry: the market has a diverse workforce that's being fed by a number of area colleges and universities. Since 2010, Charlotte's tech labor pool has grown by nearly 75%. Tech companies want to be here, too, with workforce growth helping to bring in tech startups, which are focusing especially on finding space in the CBD.
