Experiential Retailers Still Eager For Brick-And-Mortar Locations

So far, you can't order a smoothie for quick delivery from Amazon. That means novelty food and other experiential retailers are still leasing space in new retail developments. At the RedStone retail development in Indian Land, MPV Properties recently bagged three new tenants along those lines.

Tropical Smoothie Café inked a lease for more than 1,600 SF (pictured). Peter and Linda Ruggiero, local to Charlotte, are franchisees for this location and have plans to open additional units.

Jackson’s Java has signed a lease for more than 2,100 SF. Owner/operator Mike Jackson plans to offer morning rush hour commuters drive-thru coffee. The space will also include a wine bar component called Point Lookout Vineyards Tasting Room, which will be active in the evenings.

Also, Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers acquired a one-acre outparcel fronting Highway 521 at the shopping center. The three retailers will be in the first phase of the 55k SF RedStone (not counting the movie theater), which will be completed this year.
