These are tough times for retailers, but one way retail is still growing is as part of mixed-use properties. City Park Village, the retail component of Pope & Land Enterprises’ 170-acre mixed-use City Park development in the Charlotte-Douglas airport submarket, has inked leases to fill about 90% of its two buildings, which total 12K SF.

The lineup includes Panera Bread, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Starbucks and Firehouse Subs. Tenants are expected to open this fall.

“City Park is surrounded by activity, including the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ 295K SF outpatient healthcare center scheduled to open in April, as well as the headquarters for Sealed Air Corp.,” Shopping Center Group leasing adviser Darrell Palasciano said.

The Shopping Center Group is the leasing agent for City Park Village. Pope & Land Enterprises is the master developer for the mixed-use community, which is on the former site of the Charlotte Coliseum.

City Park also includes City View, with 284 apartment units that have been more than 95% occupied since completion in 2016, and another 200 units under construction. Ryan Homes is building 24 townhomes adjacent to City View. A 204-key, dual-brand Residence Inn & Fairfield Inn is also part of the mixed-use property.
