SUDS IN NODA

Tara and Chris Goulet hope by October to open Birdsong Brewing in NoDa, the second craft brewery for the eclectic, arts-heavy enclave just north of uptown Charlotte. The 5,000 SF brewery will be within walking distance (thank goodness) of the upcoming NoDa Brewing Co, also slated for a fall opening.

Chris and Tara Goulet plan a new craft brewery in Charlotte's NoDa district

Birdsong Brewing will contain a 4,000 SF brewery and a 1,000 SF tap room with eight to 10 tables, Tara told us this week. (That's her with business partner  and  hubby Chris at the Austin City Limits music festival foiling the sun's evil plan to blind them.) ?It'll be a long, vertical room with a large bar,? she says. ?Nice and cozy.?

Legacy Real Estate Advisors' Jay Snover

The arrival of another brew pub to NoDa will help solidify the area as a craft brewing district, says Legacy Real Estate Advisors? Jay Snover,  above, who repped landlord Clarke Allen, owner of Charlotte Arrangements and unofficial NoDa ambassador. ?Craft breweries are spreading across the country like wildfire,? Jay told us over a Cobb salad (presumably with a light be vinaigrette) at Lupie?s Cafe. Clarke, a NoDa pioneer, says the district is swiftly becoming a place visitors ask about when they come to town—something much more than a Bohemian cell of tattooed twentysomethings. ?I'm just tickled to death,? he says. ?This is perfectly positioned for NoDa.? Pat Deely of the McDevitt Agency repped Birdsong Brewery.
