RESTAURANTS SWARMING UPTOWN
Delta's new restaurant uptown
Grab your forks, folks. In recent weeks, more than a half dozen new restaurants have hit the uptown Charlotte scene. And more may be on the way, our very informed sources tell us. New eateries include a BBQ restaurant called Queen City Q, an Irish pub called Fitzgerald?s, Delta?s (a fine Southern dining restaurant, above), Rooster?s Kitchen, and City Smoke. And celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse weighed in last month, opening a New Orleans-textured restaurant called e2 Emeril's Eatery at the Levine Center for the Arts.

Warren & Associates? Jessica Rossi, above, says CBD retail sales have been up for the past year, and people are more confident the ?Big Banks? will continue to stabilize. People also are excited about announcements for new uptown tenants, which include Chiquita. ?That will bring some new faces to the uptown,? Jessica tells us. Queen City Q moved into the former LaVecchia?s at Seventh Street Station; its Bryan Meredith tells us more people are living and working uptown, which contributed to the appeal of locating a BBQ restaurant in the center city. Plus, he adds, ?Nobody is doing what we're doing.? (That includes Texas-style brisket in the land of chopped pork. We think they'll probably coexist well in our tummies.)
