NOBODY WILL FORGET THE NAME
Sardis Road Land Co. has filed a rezoning for a retirement community on Sardis Road.

If we were to invent the name of a retirement village, it would probably be Shady Knoll. Apprently, we're not the only ones. That's the moniker on a petition from a Charlotte development company that's proposing to build a 60-unit retirement village on about five acres off Sardis Road that'll have duplexes, condos, and multifamily independent living spaces. Sardis Road Land Co has filed a rezoning petition to accommodate the project, seeking a change to multifamily from single-family zoning. Company officials couldn't be reached (so development cost, rental rates and other pesky details weren't available). On its website, the company espouses a history of multifamily innovations, including what it calls ?multi-generational housing,? where more than one generation may cohabitate. (For journalistic research, we'll watch Golden Girls to see how that turns out.) A public hearing on the request is scheduled for June 20.
