NEW RETAIL CENTER FOR THE NEW YEAR

NEW RETAIL CENTER FOR THE NEW YEAR
York Development Group is recasting a vacant former Food Lion-anchored shopping center into a $5M, 60k SF family friendly retail center tentatively called Lakeside West, with views of Lake Wylie. (To make it really family friendly they need a plush mascot, perhaps a large mouse, or maybe a grey, wise-cracking bunny.)

The 20-acre site at Highway 49 and the Buster Boyd Bridge in Lake Wylie, SC, gathered dust and weeds for five years. But Charlotte-based York is doing a complete makeover, development director Brian Rollar (right, with project GC Metrolina Builders? Matt Williams) tells us. The redevelopment includes a 26k SF children?s rec center called Bowl & Bounce, a YMCA, a salon, an as-yet-unnamed Asian fusion restaurant, and about 10k SF of other tenants that are still in negotiations. (Lease rates are about $15/SF.) It should see its first tenants by spring, with Metrolina and Charlotte-based Overcash-Demmitt Architects as the design-build team. ?What makes this so cool is that everybody in the area is so excited about seeing something new come in there,? Matt tells us.
