INDEPENDENCE PLAN APPROVED
About  150 private businesses are being displaced now that a 1.5-mile, $152M   leg of Independence Boulevard is being widened east of North Sharon Amity Road. And Goode Development also won a rezoning that will allow redevelopment of 20 acres nearby.

Goode Development's Roy Goode recently won a rezoning that will allow redevelopment of up to 20 acres Roy owns on Monroe Road
Goode Development's Roy Goode says the project is being designed to catch some of the fallout  from the road widening. (The site is now the 337-unit Silver Oak Apartments.) Roy tells us he intends to build a 15k SF strip retail center. The approved rezoning also will accommodate the sale or lease of up to seven retail, restaurant, or grocery users. He also plans to demolish the existing Silver Oak complex and build a new apartment development with up to 275 units. A project timetable is  pending. Existing leases will be honored.
