HOTEL SITE PROPOSED IN SW CHARLOTTE

HOTEL SITE PROPOSED IN SW CHARLOTTE
Proposed SW Charlotte hotel site

A New York couple that owns a six-acre tract in southwest Charlotte hopes to get the property rezoned for a hotel and conference center and then possibly flip the land to a developer. Tennyson and Lorna Curtis of Farmingdale, NY, own the land at Steel Creek and Red Spring Drive. They have filed a rezoning petition with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Planning Department seeking a land-use change. The property is now zoned single-family residential. (You could still have conferences there, but only one family at a time. Not as efficient.) They haven?t landed a flag yet, but the goal is to develop a business travel hotel, Lorna tells us. The hotel would have 91 rooms and about 1,600SF of conference space. A public hearing on the rezoning request has been set for Sept. 19.
