The University Research Park area could be in store for more than 100k SF of restaurants, shops, and other retail, up to 400k SF of new office space, 250 hotel rooms and more than 400 multifamily or condo units, based on a recent rezoning filed by Crescent Resources. The project site is 62 acres at West Mallard Creek Church Road and Senator Royall Drive. A development cost has not been determined, and the mixed-use project doesn't have a formal name. Crescent?s documentation says it wants the project to bepedestrian-friendly and in keeping with existing development plans for the University area. The company is seeking a zoning change tomixed-use from research. A public hearing on the request is scheduled for June 20. (Worst case scenario, we'll gladly consider it "research" to try out a bunch of new restaurants and retail.)
