CITY MARKET SEARCH ENDS SOON

The search for an executive director to run the new City Market at Seventh Street Station uptown should wrap in about a month, Charlotte Center City Partners' Moira Quinn tells us. The new ED will have a very hands-on role in selecting the 30-plus vendors who will operate out of the ground floor space formerly occupied by Reid?s Fine Foods. City Market will be a self-sustaining non-profit and is being sponsored by Blue Cross & Blue Shield of N.C. and Carolinas HealthCare Systems. Uptown booster group Center City Partners has been shepherding the effort but will relinquish control once the ED is in place, Moira says. The market is expected to offer fresh meat and seafood, produce, dairy products and baked goods year round.
