ANYBODY GOT A BUSINESS CARD?

More than 1,200 people recently milled through 160-plus marketing booths at Charlotte's 11th Annual Business Showcase at The Parkexpo hall, making it the largest showcase event to date. It's also one of the few times (that we know of) when commercial real estatetypes get to rub elbows with candy confectioners.

The Charlotte office of Cassidy Turley put its best foot forward: Kate ReillyLeigh Finn, and Bobbi Jo Zobrest. They were luring would-be tenants with free rent at the 110k SF Independence Tower. For anyone willing to sign a five-year lease effective June 1, Cassidy Turley's offering the balance of 2011 free. (They were handing out chocolate, too, a mark of real negotiating prowess.)

The showcase is sponsored by the Charlotte Chamber and the Greater Charlotte Hospitality & Tourism Alliance. It allows businesses to get their message across in a fun and affordable environment, says the Chamber's Cherise Walker. There was also a complimentarycocktail hour after the main event for those who like a little booze when they schmooze.
