Y Dives into Addition
Boston YMCA renovation plan
The Greater Boston YMCA this week advised the BRA that it will seek approval to do a $25M, 62.3k SF renovation and expansion  of its 100-year-old building at 316 Huntington Ave. JLL?s Dermot Roe, whose firm is the project manager, says the project will preserve much of the building's historic character. The plan, designed by Linea 5, would demolish a 22k SF addition to the existing building where a pool and squash courts are and replace it witha 23k SF handicapped-accessible addition. The Y would also do interior renovations of 40k SF. Dermot says the space has an aquatics center, a gym, handball/racquetball courts, a family changing room, a family pool, and a lap pool. (We challenge all comers to a doggie-paddle race.)
