Subway sandwich franchisee from Yorkshire is behind plans for a 218K SF office development in central Birmingham.

Chesterfield-based Raaj Tutt, who operated a Subway sandwich franchise at the Crystal Peaks Shopping Centre in Sheffield, is one of the two controlling parties at City Realty, which is promoting the development close to the Mailbox site. The other controlling party is Amandeep Tutt.

No details have been given on funding for the scheme, although a statement from LSH said that if approved by Birmingham planners construction is expected to start in 2022.

Acting on behalf of City Realty, Lambert Smith Hampton has submitted a detailed planning application for 218K SF at Upper Gough Street. The scheme will involve two buildings and improvements at Chapmans Passageway. This will improve links between the Peace Garden and the rest of the city centre.

LSH said the brownfield regeneration will form the first phase of a more comprehensive development package. The proposal will help develop a sustainable "walkable neighbourhood" within close proximity of Birmingham New Street station, the Mailbox and the City Centre.

The application will enable a flexible floorplate suitable for both single occupiers or multiple tenants whilst also including a state-of-the-art roof garden boasting panoramic views of Birmingham city centre.

The proposal has been prepared by Lambert Smith Hampton, Holland Lloyd and Corstorphine + Wright.
