NAIOP Maryland will launch a new mentoring program next month to help the growing real estate professional group’s younger members advance their careers.

The program will include 10 mentors, half of whom have been identified, says NAIOP board member Connie Rhodes, who heads the mentoring program. Connie is among the mentors, as are execs at Blue & Obrecht Realty, Saul Ewing, Merritt Properties and the Howard Hughes Corp. NAIOP Maryland expects to match 20 mentors with mentees who share similar career goals and will provide quarterly feedback to the board.

The mentoring program will identify mentors who can be a go-to-resource for junior members, says NAIOP Maryland president Brendan Gill (pictured), 33, one of NAIOP Maryland’s youngest presidents. Brendan is also president of MacKenzie Management Co, the real estate firm’s property management division, which manages more than 7M SF.

NAIOP Maryland has 380 members, of whom 80 are under 35 and belong to the group’s five-year-old Developing Leaders program. The professional group hosts an annual awards gala, summer social and other networking events.

It also organizes community service days. The volunteer efforts have included delivering shovels, rakes, snacks and other supplies to support the after-school program at the Living Classrooms Foundation Youth Sports and Education Center at Patterson Park (pictured) and delivering health kits to members of Youth Empowered Society, which works to end youth homelessness.
