MCF Capital Management has sold the historic Knickerbocker building in downtown Baltimore for $1.35M. Repped by Transwestern, MCF sold the 18k SF building at 218-220 E Lexington St to Palmstone Knickerbocker. MCF purchased the building in 1996 for $150k, according to state property records. Tenants in the fully leased building include law firm Holzman & Associates, florist Shelly's Blossom Shop and dive bar and concert hall The Sidebar Tavern.

Originally called the Manufacturers' Record Building, the seven-story Knickerbocker was one of the buildings that survived the Great Baltimore Fire of 1904. Historical records show a 19th century ad (pictured) describing the building as a "brick and granite structure with terra cotta trim. The building features elaborate cornices with egg and dart molding, geometric details, Corinthian capitals and a grotesque near the roofline." The ad for the building proclaimed it "can now be rented in the new," which is flowery language we wish commercial real estate had never lost.
