| There's St. John Properties and JHU's Edward St. John Real Estate Program—and coming soon, the 48k SF Edward St. John Teaching and Learning Center. The Edward in question graduated from U of M with an engineering degree 50 years ago, the last time a new classroom building went up on campus. In '71, he founded St. John Properties, and now he has given $10M for the $63M high-tech building to go up on the site of Holzapel Hall along McKeldin Mall and extending to Campus Drive. It'll seat 2,000 and host 10,000 students(more than a third of the student body) a day. Gov. Martin O'Malley had slated $48M in his 2013 budget, provided U of M could raise the rest, though the budget still must be passed. |
