Zoning Commission Approves Next Phase Of Development At The Pearl

San Antonio's zoning commission has approved plans for a massive new development near The Pearl. The request by downtown developer GrayStreet Partners seeks to rezone 23 acres of land across Broadway from The Pearl, where it plans to build an extended mixed-use development with a hotel, parks, apartments, and office and retail space.

The project is larger than the current footprint of The Pearl. It could include about 100K SF of retail and up to 300K SF of office space, GrayStreet Managing Partner Kevin Covey said in an interview last month with mySA News. The request is still subject to approval by City Council. On Aug. 17 GrayStreet will present the proposal to the council.

GrayStreet already owns eight acres along Broadway and has most of the project’s remaining footprint under contract, including 14 acres that the San Antonio Independent School District put up for sale last year.
