Alpharetta Software Company Anchoring City Center Project

A software company is anchoring the office component of Alpharetta's up-and-coming City Center project.

DataScan is moving its headquarters to a $13M, 46K SF building on the 26-acre mixed-use project being developed by MidCity Real Estate Partners. DataScan will occupy all of the office space. More than 7K SF in the four-story building will be street-level retail.

The deal comes weeks after Alpharetta arranged more than $70M in bond financing to help offset property taxes over the course of a decade for the three developers on the $85M project: MidCity, South City Partners and Morris & Fellows.

Some 150 employees will be housed in the new headquarters, MidCity president Kirk Demetrops said. The space includes a health clinic for the employees, plus it will be within walking distance of more than 30 restaurants, a big consideration for the company to locate there, he said.

Along with a new city hall and library, the new City Center will include 105K SF of retail and restaurants by Morris & Fellows and a 168-unit apartment complex being developed by South City Partners. The mixed-use district is scheduled to deliver by fall 2018.
