Hanover Eyeing Buckhead Theatre Site

Atlanta Multifamily

Could Houston luxury apartment developer Hanover Co be making plans for opening night at the Buckhead Theatre? (As long as they don't say "Macbeth" when they're in there... it's bad luck.)

Numerous sources tell us that Hanover Co is under contract with The Loudermilk Cos for the parking lot beside Buckhead Theatre. In turn, Hanover is eyeing a 300-unit, high-rise apartment tower on the site that would include ground-level retail. But The Loudermilk Cos' Robin Loudermilk—who owns the site next to the historic theater—says plans are very preliminary. “There's a lot of hoops to jump through here,” he says. Officials with Hanover declined to comment.

Specifically, Hanover is wanting the lot to the right of the theater. It's the latest multifamily gambit in metro Atlanta where more than 8,000 units are underway now and another 8,000-plus are proposed, according to Haddow & Co stats. This also isn't the only move Hanover is making in Atlanta. As we previously reported, Hanover is starting a 382-unit apartment project with 12k SF of ground-floor retail at Perimeter Town Center in Sandy Springs. And it is eyeing 1010 W Peachtree St for a six-story, mid-rise apartment community as well.
