Atlanta Industrial

As one of the patriarchs of an Atlanta property management company bows out, new blood enters with plans to grow the company. We spoke with Scott Meadows— a former Wells Real Estate Trust exec who's taking over the operations of Wheeler/Brand Management Co after Tom Wheeler retired earlier this year—about his plans for the company that currently leases and manages 5.5M SF in metro Atlanta. “We're going to focus on this state,” Scott says. (Don't get too jealous, Florida.)

The firm, which will keep the name, is quite storied here. It began in 1983 as Hudgens Management Co. Then in 2003, Tom Kolb and Tom Wheeler purchased the company and changed the name to Wheeler/Kolb Management Co. Then Tom Kolb retired in 2010 and Brand Properties' Brand Morgan (above) was brought in as an investor and co-owner. While known mostly for its retail listings, Scott says more than one-third of its properties are office and industrial, including Century Center North off Clairmont in the image above. Outside of work, Scott's kids are his hobby, and you'll often find him attending swim meets or horse riding competitions. He also is a boater, owning a Cobalt on Lake Lanier.
