Atlanta-based Songy Highroads is moving forward with a new Hyatt Place hotel right across the street from the Georgia Aquarium.

A group named HP Atlanta Centennial Park JV purchased a one-acre parcel at 300 Luckie St. for $5M, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reports. The site, a former school, was being targeted by Songy for a potential new hotel, Bisnow first reported.

Earlier this year, Songy filed permits with the City of Atlanta to develop a Hyatt Place. Songy has developed other hotels around the U.S., including Hyatts in Washington, D.C., and Houston. Songy recently announced plans for a 201-room Hyatt House West End in Nashville. An engineering firm also just filed permits to demolish the existing structure.

The site also would be practically next door to a proposed multistoried marine research center and entertainment complex for the Georgia Aquarium. That project was recently proposed by Jacoby Development.
