An Atlanta developer with numerous hotels under its belt could be trying for one across from the Georgia Aquarium.

Songy Highroads filed permits this month to turn an abandoned, two-story commercial building off Luckie Street into a hotel. A special administrative permit would allow the company to build a hotel of up to 300K SF at 300 Luckie St. — next door to Downtown Atlanta's Hilton Garden Inn.

Songy Highroads CEO David Songy said the firm has the site under contract and is conducting a feasibility study on the site for its “highest and best use.”

“We will know more after we complete the studies later this summer,” Songy said. He did not elaborate on potential development plans.

Songy Highroads has developed numerous hotels across the U.S., including the Hyatt Place at 1522 K St. NW in the heart of Washington, D.C., the Hyatt Place and Aloft Houston Galleria and the Marriott Residence Inn on Peachtree Street in Downtown Atlanta. Songy Highroads also recently announced plans to develop a 201-room Hyatt House West End in Nashville.
