Elephants and rhinos and warthogs, oh my!
The City of Atlanta has filed permits (with itself) to begin major renovations at Zoo Atlanta, including the much-anticipated expansion of the African Savanna exhibit, which will house the elephants and rhinos.
Two separate permits were filed: one for land development for the savanna expansion and the development of the elephant barn and a demolition permit to raze the old parakeet complex, rhino, warthog and ostrich holding pens.
Called the Grand New View, the $41M project will transform the old Cyclorama building into an events facility that overlooks an expanded African Savanna exhibit.
