Braves Get Cobb OK On Bridge Design

The controversial pedestrian bridge that will span over I-285, connecting SunTrust Park with the Cobb Galleria, has taken another step toward reality as the Cobb County Commission unanimously approved its design. Now comes the funding part.

Commissioners called the bridge critical for pedestrian safety, and have tagged its price at nearly $10M, 90% of which is being funded by the Cumberland Community Improvement District and Federal transit funds (the Braves are footing $380k of the bill), according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

That bill does not take into account the money spent on buying the property for the bridge or the $800k in bridge design work. [AJC]
