"The Wind Tunnel" Is Gone - Terminus Adding Offices/Retail

Atlanta

Cousins Properties is looking to add more restaurants and office space and close off what's now popularly thought as The Terminus Wind Tunnel. (Hundreds of hats lost in the vicious breeze will be avenged.)

If you're familiar with Cousins Properties' Terminus mixed-use complex in Buckhead, then you're familiar with the wind effect in the courtyard sandwiched between Terminus 100 and 200 (and the parking deck). Cousins has just filed for permits that would effectively do away with the effect while also adding retail and office space. We spoke with Cousins' Thad Ellis (here with Childress Klein's Connie Engel) who tells us the developer plans to enclose two stories of what it calls “Cafe Street” all the way to the Piedmont Road frontage.

Enclosing the breezeway will add about 10k SF of new space, divided between ground-floor retail and second-floor office, Thad says. He's in talks with restaurant and coffee purveyors. Thad says the second-floor office could be overflow space for existing tenants.
