Seeing Buckhead Through Mauve-Colored Glasses

When Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed first found out someone named Morgan Dene Oliver wanted to take over the stalled Streets of Buckhead, he had to turn to Google for help. “I didn't know who he was, so I Googled Dene and OliverMcMillan popped up, and I said, 'Yes, baby!'” Kasim (here with Buckhead Coalition's Sam Massell and Dene) recounted last week during OliverMcMillan's Buckhead Atlanta topping out ceremony for the first apartment tower. That project is certainly stalled no more. The developer is fast underway with 1.5M SF that will house Spanx's HQ. The Mayor says he kept getting calls from constituents during his first term asking what he was going to do about the giant holes in Buckhead. (Apparently people don't like going dirt swimming like they used to.) “And then Dene came into my office wearing mauve shades and a beautiful blazer with functional sleeves and I said, 'I can do a deal with this guy.'
