Patricia Arquette At The Equal Pay Day Block Party!

We went to the Equal Pay Day Block Party at the The American Association of University Women national HQ.

We snapped Oscar-winning actress and equal pay advocate Patricia Arquette with AAUW CEO Linda Hallman. April 12 is the symbolic day when women celebrate Equal Pay Day, when one day women’s earnings catch up to men’s.

AAUW VP Lisa Maatz with Congresswomen Rosa DeLauro and Carolyn Maloney. After the presentation, guests enjoyed music by Danceable, tunes from DJ M Dot, and bites from woman-owned food truck Flavors on Wheels.

The event marked the beginning of a new salary negotiation on the gender pay gap, a collaboration between Mayor Muriel Bowser’s Office on Women’s Policy and Initiatives, AAUW, and the DC chapter of AAUW’s Younger Women’s Task Force. Here, NOW's Emily Imhoff, M.E. Ficarra and Tamara Stein.

AAUW empowers women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research. The nonpartisan, nonprofit organization has more than 170,000 members and supporters, 1,000 local branches, and 800 college and university partners. Here, DC Commission for Women chair Dr. Carolyn Rudd, YWCA National Capital Area's Mary Jean Collins, and Arielle Baker.
