Monday night, we headed to the newly constructed University of the District of Columbia Student Center Ballroom for Tzedek DC's 2017 Celebrity Chef Kugel Cook-Off. We snapped UDC President Ronald Mason with Brailsford & Dunlavey's Brian Hanlon, D.C. Council member Elissa Silverman and the Dean of UDC Law, Shelley Broderick. Attendees tried four different kugel dishes prepared by four famous D.C. chefs, then voted on their favorite recipe.

Each chef presented their unique takes on kugel, a Jewish dessert consisting of baked pudding or casserole, most commonly made from egg noodles or potato. Here, All Purpose, Red Hen, and Boundary Stone Chef Mike Friedman and Alysa Turner serve their kugel recipe.
