Phil Spector Joins Satellite Hall Of Fame

Placeholder

Milbank Tweed satellite lawyer Phil Spector has reached new heights, being named to the Satellite Hall of Fame by the Society of Satellite Professionals International. He's one of six inductees this year (the others are industry CEOs) chosen by the 4,000-member SSPI.

A powerful player in the satellite industry, Phil started his legal career clerking for Second Circuit Judge James Oakes and Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, after which he served as White House Associate Assistant to the President.

Bisnow spoke with Phil (and snapped this photo) when he joined Milbank from Intelsat, the world's largest satellite operator, where he was both its GC and head of business development. He guided the company through its historic merger with PanAmSat in '06. (This '07 Bisnow article has more details on the merger and Phil's time at Intelsat.) Before that, Phil had been DC managing partner and communications & technology group chairman at Paul Weiss, where he helped negotiate the first trans-Atlantic merger in the satellite industry.
