Neighborhood Development Company Files For Ward 7 Housing Development

The Neighborhood Development Co has filed for a 59-unit affordable housing development in Ward 7.

The five-story building planned for a site at 3450 Eads St NE will be available for those making up to 50% of area median income, UrbanTurf reports.

The developer is working with Grimm + Parker and A. Morton Thomas & Associates on the project, which will have a three-story and a five-story component. The three-story section will have eight units, and the five-story section will have 51 one- and two-bedroom units.

NDC founder/CEO Adrian Washington, above, told Bisnow in March that the 300k SF of affordable housing he's developed has taught him of the importance of innovation.

“What developers like us want to look at are other innovative ways of producing affordable housing through other techniques,” Adrian said. “So, we’ve even looked at producing housing from shipping containers.”

Indications are that shipping containers won't be used in this project, just across the Anacostia River near Benning Road. [UT]
